Zips Racing Electric, based at the University of Akron, is a student-led design team devoted to the development of electric vehicles for the Formula SAE Electric competition. Our team members, across various engineering disciplines, gain hands-on experience in applying their academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Through the process of designing and constructing high-performance electric race cars, students gain a comprehensive understanding of advanced engineering principles, teamwork, and project management. Our participation in this competition equips students with invaluable problem-solving skills as well as much needed soft-skills to navigate the corporate world. As part of Zips Racing Electric, students are given a unique opportunity to not only contribute to the future of sustainable transportation but also to develop as well-rounded engineers prepared for the professional world.
