The Toronto Shootout (TBA)

A yearly event held by the University of Toronto Formula Racing team at Brechin Motorsports Park, it is an event for both internal combustion and electric formula-style cars to compete in various events. An all day event, it is an excellent opportunity to push our car to the max and to have some fun competing with fellow race teams!
In order to participate and attend, a passport is required and must be up to date.
The Pittsburgh Shootout
Held in Wampum, PA, The Pittsburgh Shootout is a single-day competition run by only students and alumni among 30+ eager race teams of IC, EV, and Hybrid cars. This competition is designed to test a car’s ability to complete the Skidpad and the Autocross. Details about how to attend this event will come soon!
Formula SAE Electric Michigan
The three-day-long competition held in Brooklyn, MI in the Michigan International Speedway will adjudicate the performance of Formula SAE vehicles in many categories. See our car compete in events like the Skidpad and Autocross! Details to come about who may attend and sign-ups.
Formula SAE Hybrid+Electric
Held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the Formula SAE Hybrid+Electric competition is the dedicated competition between Hybrid and EV race cars. Details about how to attend this event will come with time. Here’s a quote from the official event describing the competition in detail:
“The Formula Hybrid competition is an interdisciplinary design and engineering challenge for undergraduate and graduate university students. They must collaboratively design and build a formula-style hybrid or electric-only racecar and compete in a series of events. This educational competition emphasizes drivetrain innovation and fuel efficiency in a high-performance application.”

ZRE24 Unveiling (TBD)
Come view our newest design at the Zips Racing Unveiling! This event is open to friends, family, and sponsors of the team. We will be unveiling our new car and presenting our hard work from the year before leaving for our first competition. Invites and RSVP form will be sent by email or by request.
Zips Racing Electric Seminar
Team Lead will present to the team on several topics that will help new students learn how to compete in FSAE and design a race-winning car. Afterwards, we will have a dinner paid for by the team. Topics are attached in the seminar document. RSVP link will be sent out in a later email.
Sponsor Day
In the Mary Gladwin Parking lot, have a chance to meet our sponsors first-hand! Sponsors get the opportunity to meet the race team and their leads, view the car that houses the generous parts and labor gifted, and even a chance to drive the car.
2023 Formula SAE EV Workshop
Join us for live technical sessions on popular EV topics throughout the weekend of September 29th. We will be sending 4 students out to Tesla’s Fremont, CA factory to learn from the professionals about electric vehicle and race car performance engineering.

New Member Kickoff Meeting
ATTENTION ALL ZIPS! We are having our opening meeting for our 23-24 season Friday September 1st in ASEC A108 (Design Center) at 6:30 PM. All students regardless of major are welcome to join us! We will:
Give a quick presentation on what it means to be part of this team, and what the FSAE competition is,
Give a tour of the Design Center and show off our vehicles,
Do a test drive of the car in the Mary Gladwin parking lot.
RooFest 2023
RooFest is the University of Akron’s student organization fair, located in the Student Union. Join us at our table to meet the team, learn about important events and information systems, and see the car!
